2016 Ford Edge is a family car that has excellent looks, features and commendable fuel efficiency. It is provided in 4 trim levels – SE, SEL, Titanium and Sport. It is characterized by a new platform and superior choice of engines.
Exterior and Interior
The exterior is going to be a continuation of the design concept that started with Fusion. Redesigning of Edge has given it a bold high-profile grille having trapezoidal striped shape. It is outstanding by its highly placed hood, snubbed nose and a little prominent wheel arches. The fog lights are placed on the border of the intakes. The rear bumper has a host of exhaust pipes in a rectangular shape. At the back, you will also notice well-defined trapezoid lights that are linked with a bridge of light.
The interior is huger and is expected to have more technological features. High-quality cloth and leather upholstery that is comfortable and elegant will adorn the cabin. The seating is for 5 passengers and sufficient space is there for everyone. Standard features will include Bluetooth, electric seats and windows, Sony audio system, rear adjustable seats, dual zone automatic climate control and a 7-inch screen that performs with MyFord and SYNC system.
Engine and Mileage
Edge is going to get three choices of engines. The standard one is 2.0 liter EcoBoost engine that generates 245 hp and a torque of 270 lb.-ft. It will be able to haul around 3500 lbs. The other engine is 3.5 liter V6 that will raise 285 hp and 263 lb.-ft. of torque – lower than the standard one. The best in the line is the 2.7 liter V6 that will generate 300 hp and a torque of 300 lb.-ft. All three engines are mated with 6-speed automatic. Choice of front wheel or all-wheel drive is available for all Edges. An 8-speed automatic gearbox may also be offered. Acceleration of 0-60 mph can be availed in below 6 seconds while top speed that you can get is 130 mph.
Edge offers mileage of 21/30 mpg for the 2.0 liter engine and 20/28 mpg for the V6 engines.
2016 Ford Edge – Price and Release Date
Edge is priced at $28,100 and can go up to $40,095. It will be released in the US markets in late 2015 or beginning of 2016.
