The soon to be unveiled sports utility vehicle, new 2018 Ford Expedition has Eco Boost power making it more fuel efficient than its predecessor which has been around since 2006. The previous model was said to drive poorly and used a lot of fuel and its engines were not that good. Its competition is Lincoln navigator, GMC Yukon XL and Chevrolet Suburban.
Exterior and Interior Design
The model still retains the dip in the front windows near the mirrors which is Ford’s trademark. The body is made of aluminum. This makes it lighter by around 350 pounds since the previous model was made of steel. The weight will put it in the same weight range as GMC’s escalade. The front 2018 Ford Expedition will look like that of the F-150 retaining the same grille and headlights. The back may change slightly and get a more interesting design.The body is mostly flat which an aluminum weakness is as the soft metal can split with deep curves. It will retain the traditional Expedition look but have more space and be more comfortable. Towing things will be much easier and have more capacity of over 9200 pounds.
The interior will be overhauled, steering wheel, seats and the dashboard will be new. The seats will be seven or eight and will get a few luxuries such as premium cloth upholstery and heated seats for certain markets.
Engine and Mileage Performance
The expedition is expected to use a 3.5 liter Eco boost V6 similar to the current model or the much smaller 2.7 liter Eco boost used in the F-150. The engine is expected to have an upgrade and thus produce 440 horsepower as opposed to the current 350 and 450 lb-ft torque. This is the kind of power train used in the Ford Raptor. The performance will be slightly better with a 0-60 time of less than 5 seconds as opposed to the current one of 6.4 seconds. The MPG will be 20 as opposed to the current one of 16MPG. This will come about as a result of the engine that is more powerful and efficient as well as the lighter body.

2018 Ford Expedition Price and Release Date
The ford expedition is expected to be launched at the 2017 Detroit auto show and start selling soon after. The new Ford Expedition 2018 is expected to begin retailing at $ 48,000 U.S. dollars and go as far as $70,000 U.S dollars.
Summary
The current expedition was released in 2006 as a 2007 model and is seriously outdated. It was given a cosmetic and mechanical boost in 2015 but still falls short in comparison to its competitors. The 2018 Ford Expedition is a welcome improvement. The new expedition is expected to compete favorably with Chevrolet Suburban and GMC Yukon XL though Large SUVs are generally on low demand despite the low fuel prices. It is expected to be more technologically advanced than its predecessors.
