2016 Ford S-Max is believed to be the replacement of Ford Galaxy. Like its previous versions, this S-Max is expected to meet the demands of a multi-utility vehicle. It has adequate cabin storage, spacious seating, and a rich interior design.
Exterior and Interior
2016 S-Max has the exterior design of a big family car. Its robust looks are further enhanced by a hexagonal grille. The headlamps are artistically placed at either corner of the hood and stop short of reaching the windshield. Because of the headlamps’ position, the hood looks narrow. The windshield is raised a bit and has a definitive slant to it. The roofline is curvy, which provides sophistication. The rear of the vehicle has angular tail lamps, which extend inside the trunk lid.
The inside of the S-Max has a spacious look for the accommodation of 5 people. It is believed that the vehicle will have the interior designed in the same fashion as the C-Max. Hence, the seats should be available in two forms: leather covered and cloth covered. The dashboard will receive a new look with its curvaceous features with a touch screen offering navigation facility and other features. Bluetooth and USB connectivity will be standard.
Engine and Mileage
The automaker has not yet confirmed any details regarding the engine of the S-Max. As such, many rumors are doing the rounds. The first one is Ford’s Ecoboost 1.5 liter 4-cylinder engine with 158 horsepower. Second, 2.0 liter 4-cylinder engine Ecoboost offering 237 ponies with an electric motor, most probably bigger than that of C-Max. The diesel variant will have the TDCi 2.0 liter engine with capability of providing 118hp, 148hp and 178hp.
In case, Ford decides to come up with an Hybrid version, then S-Max may have a lithium-ion battery pack fitted inside. All electric versions will have a battery pack with the same configuration but larger. With so many engine options, the 2016 S-Max will be available in manual as well as in automatic transmission. While FWD will be standard in all the versions, you could choose to have an AWD (all-wheel drive) too. MPG details have not yet been made public.
Price and Release Data
Ford is tight lipped regarding S-max’s price. However, based on engine configuration, its base price should be around $32,000. It will be out for sale in late 2016 or early 2017.
